Our Policies

Payment

Payment is expected at the time of each appointment and long appointments require pre-payment. We take Visa, MasterCard, Bank Debit, personal cheques, and cash.

Dental Insurance

Morgan Heights Dental Centre is an assignment office. This means we will bill your insurance company as a courtesy to you, our patient. Please provide us with your up to date group and certificate numbers and frequency limitations so that your claim can be processed properly.

As the patient, you are responsible for your portion at the time of your appointment. Please remember that your dental insurance coverage is a contract between yourself and the insurance company. We do not diagnose according to your insurance coverage, but according to your dental needs and oral health. Any amount not paid by your insurance company for any reason would be promptly due by yourself.

If you have a non-assignment policy, payment would be due in full, and we will gladly submit claims to your insurance for reimbursement to yourself. The implementation of the Privacy Act has made it difficult to process dental claims if any information needs to be discussed with the insurance company. This can create a challenge for our administrative staff. With full disclosure, if patients have any dental questions they can call or e-mail their insurance company directly. We will be glad to help in any way we can.

Confirmation of Booked Appointments

Scheduled restorative or advanced booked appointments require a confirmation call from the patient at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled date. We will make an initial reminder call to you and if we do not reach you in person you can leave a message on our 24-hour answering machine to acknowledge our reminder. All appointments must be confirmed or your time could be bumped to accommodate an emergency patient. We do have a continual waiting list of patients needing to get in.

Missed Appointment Fees- Short Notice (less than 24 hour)

Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you and usually made well in advance. If you cannot make your appointment time, please call us 2 working days prior to rebook. If you just simply forget your confirmed appointment time, then an automatic $50.00 missed appointment fee will be charged. If you had an unexpected emergency: family, medical, or inclement weather, the missed appointment fee will be waived. The fee has been implemented for the courtesy of patients whom we cannot accommodate easily, an extremely busy practice, and appointments confirmed 48 hours prior. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Emergency Appointments

If you are a regular patient of our practice and have a dental emergency that is causing you pain, contact our office immediately. Our clinical staff will review your symptoms and our administrative assistants will get back to you as soon as possible with an appointment time. As it is difficult to diagnose treatment over the phone we will generally book you an appointment for an exam and diagnostic x-rays. Depending on the diagnosis you may need a subsequent visit for treatment and to pre-authorize for your insurance.

Continuing Care Program

We place our patients on a recall system in order to provide the best possible oral health care. It is our philosophy that in order to provide this, our patients are scheduled for a routine exam and cleaning on a regular basis. Our hygienists and Doctors determine the interval between these visits. We recommend every six months for children and at least every three months for adults. Your recall frequency can be tailored to you specific periodontal and hygiene needs.

It is our policy to advance book our patients for continuing care so you do not fall out of the system. Advance booking reserves a time for you, that can be changed if needed. We do contact our patients one month prior to advance booked appointments by postcard, then 2 days prior with a confirmation call.

Treatment Plans

Our Doctors ensure every patient will have an information sheet to take with them when leaving the office for future treatment needed and costs involved. You may require more than one appointment and the treatment will be prioritized accordingly.

Do you need major treatment? We will pre-authorize your treatment with your insurance company prior to commencing your appointments. Feel free to call our office if you have any further questions regarding your treatment plan.
